The program is an eclectic mix of various teaching modalities, which has been honed and refined over the combined 35 years of teaching experience of the directors. In the acting department, solid acting concepts rooted in classic method (David Mamet, Stanislavski, Michael Chekov) are used involving motivation, conflict and resolution. Both of our directors’ extensive musical and compositional backgrounds add a unique perspective as to how the intersection of dramatic content and music can have the most fun, free, and evocative results. Scott Anderson Morris’s extensive dance and choreographic experience adds an element of speech-less storytelling that engage the imagination in a non-verbal version of a theatrical situation. Original ideas of the students are strongly encouraged, and we love making everyone’s contribution part of the production; creativity is celebrated. We also work in collaboration with Nimbus Arts, a local non-profit organization that contributes artistic components of Way Off Broadway productions' sets and props, as well as providing students with the opportunity to exercise their creativity in the visual arts.
